  • IVF mothers have a higher risk of post-natal depression and early parenting difficulties, Australian researchers have reported. Writing in the journal Fertility and Sterility, Melbourne University scientists say that “a previous history of fertility difficulties, advanced maternal age, assisted conception, operative delivery and multiple birth may heighten the risk for postpartum mood disturbance and early parenting difficulties.” Previous studies have tended to focus on the psychological effects of IVF on children, not on mothers.
