Ariel Sharon enters fifth year of coma
Still unresponsive
The world’s most famous coma victim, former Israeli prime minister
Ariel Sharon, lingers on, according to an article in Arutz Sheva. Mr
Sharon suffered a mild stroke in December 2005 and a massive one in
January 2006 which left him in a coma and unresponsive. From time to
time, he has fluttered his eyes, creating a flurry of rumours that he
might be regaining consciousness, but these seem to be involuntary. He
is only on a respirator at night. “There is still no change
physiologically. His body functions, but he has still not regained
consciousness. Who knows if he can hear or not?” says Raanan Gissin, a
close friend who used to direct Sharon’s office. Mr Sharon is now 81
and lives in a care facility in Ra’anana, outside Tel Aviv. ~ Arutz Sheva, Jan 15
