Kidney exchange program launched in New York
The New York Organ Donor Network has launched an exchange program which will allow unmatched donor-recipient pairs to be matched with more suitable donor-recipient pairs. “What we’re trying to really do is take advantage of the pool of willing living donors who want to donate to people they know but are physically, biologically, incompatible,” says the CEO of the Network, Elaine Berg. She is thinking of extending the program to upstate New York, New England and New Jersey.
