A Canadian radio station has been denounced as “unethical” and “insulting” for hosting a “win-a-baby” competition Ottawa’s Hot 89.9 promised to fund three cycles of IVF to the listener who makes the best case in 100 words or less. The site has been unapologetic, boasting that the competition is the first of its kind. Listeners objected that the contest sent out the wrong message – especially to the child whose parents would have to explain how he or she was born. Hot 89.9 said the procedure costs C$35,000 which some mothers eager to have children will not be able to afford. ~ Daily Mail, Sep 8
