A future with 3-month pregnancies
Biopolitical Times,
a California blog on bioethics, never seems to stop unearthing intriguing examples
of our reproductive future. This time it found a series of 10-minute films
about the future of technology. Silver Sling deals with surrogacy. The film
takes place 5 or 6 years from now. A company promises clients that it can
supply babies in three months with “accelerated pregnancies”. “In a world
where you shouldn’t have to wait for anything, why wait nine months for your
child to be born?” is the company’s pitch. The surrogates are poor
immigrant women desperate for cash. A very thought-provoking piece of work.
